Automatic Icon Extraction

Extract multiple icons from one image automatically

Get individual icons from your image. Preview transparent backgrounds, clean up unwanted edges with Repair, and choose what to download. Follow the six-icon extraction example and the AI-board workflow below.

Sign in to process 3 images per day free, including examples. Free PNG exports are up to 512px; your available allowance is shown after sign-in. Need more? A $1.99 pass unlocks 24 continuous hours, with no auto-renewal. See free and paid export options.

Original six-icon sheet on a white background

Six icons detected. Six separate PNGs.

This geometric sheet was made for this example. With Precision detection, the current browser workflow finds all six regions without adding or deleting selections. The previews below are generated by that workflow.

Six numbered detection boxes around the test icons
01 / DetectionActual detected bounds, before any manual selection.
Six automatically extracted icons shown over a transparency grid
02 / Transparent resultsIndependent PNGs. The checkerboard is a preview background, not part of the files.

Local test: September 7, 2026. Precision mode, default extraction settings. Test measurements. This result applies to this source, not every image.

From an AI-generated image to individual PNGs and a ZIP

This real 20-icon board shows the same workflow on AI-generated artwork. The recorded Precision test found 20 regions without adding or deleting selections. These are the original test previews; matching the icon count does not guarantee every edge is ready to use.

AI-generated source sheet with twenty outlined icons

Twenty individual transparent previews extracted from the AI icon sheet
02 / Separate icon previewsCheck detached marks and white interiors before exporting.
  1. Load the image. Open the example, sign in if prompted, then start it. Examples use the same recognition allowance as your own uploads.
  2. Review the detections. Check that each selection contains the intended icon. Adjust selections or use Repair where needed.
  3. Try an individual PNG. Download an icon within your available free allowance and inspect its transparency on a light and a dark background.
  4. Export the set. Select the icons you want and choose ZIP. Eligible accounts can use their available monthly PNG ZIP; otherwise choose a paid pass. Review format, size and allowance before confirming.

Recorded test: September 7, 2026, Precision mode and default settings. Measured counts and bounds. Read the full AI-board review for source limitations. The camera download is a fixed demonstration file.

Inspect an edge before applying Repair

The extracted mail icon is already usable. This optional comparison shows what Edge shrink: 1px changes: it moves the boundary inward. Other Repair adjustments are off. Enlarged previews make the small change easier to inspect; more shrink can remove fine details.

Extracted mail icon before edge shrink on a dark background
Before / Default extractionNo additional Repair adjustment.
Same mail icon after one pixel of inward edge shrink on a dark background
After / Edge shrink 1pxThe source colors and canvas dimensions remain unchanged.

Download the repaired PNG. Review on both light and dark backgrounds in Repair before applying changes to the set.

When two icons become one selection

Two overlapping blue and green circles on white
Two intended shapesThe source has no background gap between them.
One detection box around the two touching circles
One detected regionThis test merges them; automatic detection does not know the intended split.

Use manual selection for exact crop regions, or regenerate the source with a clear gap. Cropping cannot reconstruct artwork hidden by an overlapping icon. Uneven backgrounds and soft shadows also need close review.

Seeing a stray fragment instead of two whole shapes? Diagnose why an icon crop includes its neighbor before adjusting the selection.

Choose your free allowance or a 24-hour pass

Sign in to process 3 images per day, including examples. During the current free-export trial, eligible accounts can download up to 10 individual PNG icons per day across their images and one complete image as a PNG ZIP per calendar month. The ZIP can contain every icon in that image and does not use the daily single-PNG allowance. Both are limited to a 512px longest edge; daily and monthly periods reset at 00:00 UTC.

Accounts outside the trial can download one PNG sample per image, up to 512px. Check the allowance shown after sign-in before exporting; the expanded allowance is not available to every account.

For a larger delivery, the $1.99 24-hour pass includes unlimited image processing and PNG, WebP, SVG and ZIP exports, with original-size and multi-size options. Access lasts 24 continuous hours from completed payment. One-time payment. No auto-renewal. Your free allowance resumes when it expires. Pro monthly and Lifetime are also available.

The downloadable files on this page are fixed demonstration assets. They do not change the export allowance for your own images.
